There are lots of reasons to make same-sex marriage legal, but making children feel safer and be safer has to be in the top five.

Having married parents makes children feel more emotionally secure that they won't be taken away from their second parent or kept from their second parent in a time of crisis.

It makes them more financially and physically secure, with two adults legally responsible for their care.

Why would anyone want to keep these benefits from a single child?
